Trading Journal: BTC Breakout to 66k

I wrote this on TradingView last night just before Europe open, expecting BTC to breakout on NYSE bell ring, but it actually broke out a couple minutes later.

TradingView is cool because you can’t edit your posts, and they have a play button to see how the idea stacked up against reality:

I took profit at 66.6k because it was the most metal thing to do.

Trading breakouts is very risky and requires care and split-second decisions. It’s a good way to get decimated, so I layer in and keep the total risk limited to some value (in this case it was .2% risked) and the profit was a little under $500 on the trade, so better than 4:1 RR.

Here was the journal around the entry point:

I validated that the move had eyes on it, and entered, checked, entered a bit more. The risk on the addition was set very tight, with that .2% risked far low to prevent getting beat out of the position. I re-entered a couple more portions and pulled some back off to cover the risk as close to 0% risked as possible. I set the stops up once things were settled down to hold only .01% of risk overnight on the position while still giving it room to compete out late longs.

Got a nice comment from RishiRaj in TradingView – even if I can see I’m consistent, it helps to have the community support you on your journey. This game requires resilience and sometimes the emotional support goes a long way.
